Rambling thoughts
Jun. 18th, 2004 02:14 amIn the midst of a major allergy attack in the middle of the night and unable to sleep, I present to you, ramblings from a cat:
I can hear the thunder on the horizon and hear the wind in the trees. I know that a thunderstorm is coming, quite unusual for the Seattle climate. And it brings back memories for me. Memories of growing up in Florida.
I love thunderstorms. The heat of the day, the storm raging through, the thunder rumbles, the sky opens up, dumps her rain upon the world. You see nothing but rain, rain everywhere. Then as soon as it starts, it stops. The heat of the day and the ground combine to create the steam that you see rising as you walk. Despite the wet, the ground is still hot, mist floating around you as you walk.
More memories. The ocean, and the sound of the ocean, and the smell of the ocean. A warm ocean. Not that crappy, freezing, Pacific ocean. The warm, Gulf of Mexico. Late at night, sitting on a sand dune. You can see the silver glow, and you wonder if you just step right out into the calm water, can you walk that silvery path all the way to the end and touch the setting moon?
Another memory. Riding my bike to high school, early in the morning. Steam rising off the ground as the sun is rising. Passing by the little pond with the lovely lavender flowers floating in it. Riding through the little orange tree grove. The ride always made me start my day happy and serene.
Taking the bus to the mall with friends. The frozen yogurt stand in the mall. Spending the day malling. That mall is gone now. They bulldozed it down.
The park that used to have that 'gator in it. The one that attacked a couple of people. The park with the old playground, then the new one. The one with the pond that used to have that beautiful waterfall that would flash different colored lights all the time. The one across the street from the little ice cream shop that's been there forever.
Just some memories from a tired cat waiting for the rain to arrive and the eyes to stop itching.
