Not Washington Mutual

I'm pretty happy with my bank, Bank of America, NA. Sure it has it's problems, every bank does, but it's better than Washington Mutual. I've been having to deal with Washington Mutual with a non-profit organization that I've been a treasurer of in the past. They are *not* a friendly bank, and I can't tell you how many times that I've had to reorder something (because the first order didn't take), or found out that one part of the Washington Mutual network didn't have me as the signature on the account (but another one did), etc, ad naseum.

The other day, I saw an advertisement on the side of a bus for this bank that pretty much sums up just how idiotic this bank can be.

"Sign Up For Free ID Theft Services!"

Um, yeah.

That's just the kind of service I'm looking for in a bank.

Yeesh.

The other day I closed one of my accounts with Washington Mutual, transferring the money to a remaining account. Yesterday I found that my debit/ATM card didn't work (for the remaining account). I called them and was on hold for a long time and, although they were unable to tell me why it wasn't working, they assured me it would be reactivated, but it might take a business day. Today we found the other card on the account didn't work, and I called them to make sure both were about to be reactivated. Their computers were down and they were unable to check anything, or to make an estimate as to when they would be able to. I told them my confidence in WaMu was at a new low.
