Not Washington Mutual

I'm pretty happy with my bank, Bank of America, NA. Sure it has it's problems, every bank does, but it's better than Washington Mutual. I've been having to deal with Washington Mutual with a non-profit organization that I've been a treasurer of in the past. They are *not* a friendly bank, and I can't tell you how many times that I've had to reorder something (because the first order didn't take), or found out that one part of the Washington Mutual network didn't have me as the signature on the account (but another one did), etc, ad naseum.
The other day, I saw an advertisement on the side of a bus for this bank that pretty much sums up just how idiotic this bank can be.
"Sign Up For Free ID Theft Services!"
Um, yeah.
That's just the kind of service I'm looking for in a bank.
Yeesh.

Occasionally I have fielded customer complaints, or answered questions about the bank's policies. I always direct customers to speak to the staff. If they press me, I say, "I don't know . . . I don't bank here."
One lady said in reply, "So you wear that gun on your hip and protect this place with your life, but you don't trust this place with your own money?"
"Nope."
She went right in on the spot and closed out her accounts.
I bank with a credit union, and can't for the life of me figure out why an individual consumer should bank anywhere else.
