I'd bet it's because of noise. Our next-door neighbors have a rooster as well as several hens, and when they first moved in the constant crowing, usually starting about 5 in the morning, woke us up a lot, but we've gotten accustomed to it. They have the BEST eggs. They gave us some after we invited them over to look at Mars through our telescope.
