Elf Fell For It!!!!

Elf was busy preparing dinner in the kitchen, listening to NPR. Suddenly, with an appalled look on his face, Elf turned to me and said, "Are you listening to this?"

I confessed that I wasn't...I was busily writing something up. "What is it?" I asked.

He said, "MarketPlace says the IRS is doing a study of everyone in America, and if you are at high risk for not spending your rebate check in the market place, but rather putting it into savings or investing or such, they won't actually send you money, but would buy you something instead!"

I looked at him. "Elf, it's April Fools...that's an April Fool's Joke."

He looked at me with a blank expression, then said, "No...really? But...it's so real!"

I started to laugh my ass off. "I can't believe you fell for an April Fool's Joke...on NPR!!!"

"I hate April Fool's," he said darkly.

That's a *really cruel* April Fool. And on NPR no less. I'm not surprised it got him.

Hee! Loba says "He's a funny boy".

Heh, there's no threat of me not spending my check. But it'll probably go to something sensible, like rent.
