Modelling update
Jul. 5th, 2005 07:01 pmSo, I realized that I was a naughty Omaha-kitty, and hadn't updated folks on the status of Kouryou-chan's modeling career. Yup, we are moving forward with it, but for those who were intensely worried about us using the John Casablanca modeling center, don't be. We did indeed get an "offer". It was pathetic, in my opinion. One part that bothered me the most was the exclusionary clause, which would remove other options for Kouryou-chan just when she was getting started. Oh, and the contract for the school courses, which we would have to attend first, was very professional, but the contract for the modeling agency itself looked like something that a child put together. Lastly, the woman wanted me to sign on the spot. When I told her I couldn't sign anything like this without having our lawyer review it, she had to speak to her supervisor to get me permission for one day's review. Umm, no, I don't think so. Which is what I told them the next day.
Next, we went on to the Colleen Bell Agency. Please don't be bothered by their absurd website...their webmaster should be thrashed. They really do have a quality agency. It's a small but well run agency that has been going on for many years and came with good references. First off the bat was that they told me that there were no classes that Kouryou-chan should be taking now at her age. They had photographers that they could recommend, but since we had one already, that was an expense we didn't need to worry about. All we pay for are the comp card and the pictures going out on the website. The percentage is a little higher than Casablanca's wanted to charge, but I'm not really worried about that. It's well within range for the norm for the industry. And there is no global contract...contracts are per job.
All in all, I'm quite pleased with them. We're going in to see them in two weeks to confirm the pictures that they have picked for the comp card and website, and to pay for that. And then they'll start looking for work for Kouryou-chan. And we'll see what happens.
