So, yesterday I made the mistake of eating a chicken salad sandwich from the deli in the building that my neurologist's office is in. It was a weird looking sandwich...green, actually, but they had some interesting things in it, such as almonds. It sounded yummy, actually.
Well, I was on a tight time schedule, and had only a few minutes to buy the sandwich (and a bad of Doritos and a small bottle of apple juice) before going to my doctor's appointment. An hour later, I was waiting at the bus stop, and began eating the sandwich. The sandwich tasted unusual, the rest tasted fine. I had only gotten a half-sandwich, and I only ended up eating half of that between that bus stop and making it downtown. By the time I was downtown, I wasn't feeling too well. I thought it was the cold I was pretty sure I was coming down with. I had each half of the sandwich, half the bag of Doritos, and about an ounce of the apple juice. I threw the bag that everything was in into the trash can.
I got down to Burien, met up Kouryou-chan, and took her to her appointment with her teacher at her new preschool that she'd be starting in January. I was already having diarrhea before I got there, and had to make several trips to the bathroom while we talked. I was beginning to get suspicious. Towards the end of the meeting, I started to feel a bit nauseated, and I was quite certain that I had contracted food poisoning from that sandwich.
I called Elf to let him know I needed him home as soon as possible, then Kouryou-chan and I waited for the bus for about fifteen minutes and I prayed that I wouldn't get sick until I got home. No such luck. Within only a minute or so of getting on the bus, I promptly retched all over the floor. I can't begin to tell you how embarrassing that is. Fortunately, the people around me were quite sympathetic. One woman went to the bus driver and got me some paper napkins to clean up a little.
I managed to make it into the green belt, the wooded area behind our house, before I retched again....then got home. I went into the bathroom and spent time in there till Elf showed up. Wonderful Elf pampered me and doctored me while I spent the rest of the evening and night in a miserable condition.
I feel much better now, though I'm quite tired still. My body went through a lot of work the past day. I now have to call up the deli and let them know what happened.
