I have fulfilled my role as hardware geek again. Day before yesterday, in the evening, my LCD display for my laptop, Leda, went on the fritz again. Joy. The last time was in November. This time was the same...the screen dropped out a couple of times, then just went black.

So, last night I opened up Leda and jiggled around the backlight cord connecting the display to the logic board. That seems to have helped for the moment, but basically this is going to be a problem until I actually replace the cord. Chances are that the cord has a partial break in it, because when I brought Leda back online, the display kicked in fine, but when I moved the display, it blacked out again (though not so badly...I could still see the image just barely).

So the next question is, do I take a jaunt on down to the Apple repair shop that did this in November and bitch at them for poor quality repair and tell them this one's on them, or do the work myself. Cause this basically really comes down to bad design decision on Apple's part. You just don't stick the cables through the hinge of the display, Apple!

If you have the TiBook, make them do it - I don't know about the AlBook (I suspect its the same), but the TiBook display is not intended to be put back together without seriously special tools.
